§ What effect do you think this has on the story? Explain.

§ What is peer pressure? Explain in your own words.
§ What are some things students (peers) your age might pressure you to do in middle school? What would you do to ignore them?

o Write a poem describing you. Your poem could be set up in any style. Describe important qualities about yourself that make you unique.

§ What are labels? Are they good or bad? What happens when we generalize based on labels, and use stereotypes. (i.e. nerds, who are often very smart, are always bad at sports)

o Draw a T-Shirt on a piece of white paper. Decorate the T-Shirt to urge people to stop calling each other names. You have permission to use words like: “nerd,” “geek,” “gay,” “stupid,” “retard” and other offensive names, but be sure to make people want to STOP using these terms!
